Ancient Romans loved sports and games. Physical fitness and athletic ability of men was very important to their culture. All over the Roman Empire, men practiced riding, fencing,wrestling, throwing, and swimming. In the country they went hunting and fishing. In the home they played ball before dinner. Women didn't participate in ANY games or sports.
Chariot races- The ancient Romans loved chariot racing. In early Roman times, they used to race their chariots around the 7 hills of Rome. People had to scatter to get out of the way because they didn't stop for any one.
Wrestling- The romans loved wrestling games. It was even a training method they used for their army. Wrestling has been a party of the Roman Olympics since the first games in 776 BC
